Over 6,000 Children in Whatcom County live in poverty.

A majority of these children live in households with a single parent.

Half of children in poverty do not graduate high school.

Every young person who drops out of school for a life of drug abuse and criminal activity costs the state 1.5 to 2 million dollars.

Supporting a match for one year through Big Brothers Big Sisters costs $1,500.
